The Current System
Florida does not routinely provide counsel for children in dependency proceedings and volunteer counsel have little access to funding for research, analysis, and seeking expert witnesses. Attorneys for the parents, the State and the Guardian Ad Litem also have severe budget limitations that may hinder case preparation

The Unique Value of the Florida Dependency Law Center
The Florida Dependency Law Center (FDLC) provides Florida judges and attorneys with access to legal, medical, and psychological information at one easy-to-use site. FDLC's communication tools enable registered judges and attorneys to question their peers on specific issues and share information, including analysis, case strategies, and knowledge about expert witnesses. The Pro Bono Network facilitates matching of needy clients with willing counsel. Click here to view testimonials.
How You Can Help
Florida’s children and families deserve to have the highest quality legal services available. With your help, FDLC can continue to offer new services and research to judges and attorneys and apprise them of new statutes and case law that will affect children across Florida. With your help, FDLC can help ensure that the legal system, that is supposed to protect abused and neglected children, does not cause them further harm.
FDLC depends wholly upon private funding and grants. To make a financial contribution, please complete the form below. Donations to Florida’s Children First are tax deductible to the full extent allowed by law. Donors will receive an acknowledgement for tax purposes.
